2007 Telly Award for The Ore Sam Balcomb, along with Jesse Soff, won a Telly Award for their twenty-minute science fiction short film The Ore. The Tellies honor "the finest video and film productions." 2007 Elevate Award for Missy Higgins, "Steer" Sam Balcomb won "Most Elevating" for his music video Steer by multi-platinum artist Missy Higgins. It will become her official American video for that single in 2008, to coincide with the album release. DVXfest, First Place for Texas Fortune Texas Fortune, Sam's horror short film, won DVXfest's zombie-themed festival. He co-directed with Jesse Soff. 2006 Elevate Award for The Black Door For Sam's first involvement with the 48-hour Elevate Film Festival, his short film The Black Door won the event's Outstanding Achievement Award.
